RBA releases minutes – The RBA today released their latest meeting minutes today, at 11:30am, AEDT. In the minutes the central bank flagged further rate increases but provided little, if any insight into when these increases might occur or the potential size of the increases. Whilst the minutes are consistent with a further increase in the official cash rate in December, there was no obvious pointer that the RBA is committed to this course of action.

The race that stops the nation, the Melbourne Cup, wasn’t the only story today, with the Reserve Bank of Australia raising interest rates for the second time in as many months.

The RBA increased the official interest by 25 basis points, to 3.5%, which was in line with the majority of economists’ expectations.
